{"id":11,"date":"2017-04-09T14:14:35","date_gmt":"2017-04-09T14:14:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jan.thelongdistanceathlete.com\/?p=11"},"modified":"2017-04-11T16:15:08","modified_gmt":"2017-04-11T16:15:08","slug":"highlights-of-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jan.thelongdistanceathlete.com\/en\/2017\/04\/09\/highlights-of-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Highlights of 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A brief summary of my activities in 2016.<br \/>\n<strong><u>week 52<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>A podium place \u00a0at the Christmas Trail in my home village Sprundel.<br \/>\nI should have listened better to my body, instead of going to hard, but anyway\u2026 a podium place, \u00a0but terrible pain in my left thigh and abdomen now&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately I can have much rest this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 51<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Just a nice relaxing week, not too many kilometers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 50<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Only a few kilometers. Well runned the course for the league runners (5 km), great run with the group, but retained earnings. remains a game that counts.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 49<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Not too much kilometers this week, which is not necessary now.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 48<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>This week still some more rest, after the hree bridges race.<br \/>\nFeel paiun in the\u00a0 left, right, above and below!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 47<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Constructive week with the three bridges Ultra 65 km.<br \/>\nA very nice race with long straight roads, but unfortunately cold and foggy.<br \/>\nContest made while I really wanted to thread it as a workout, so i ended up at the stage,\u00a0 like last year. Too soon after the India Summer Ultra.<\/p>\n<p>Nutrition during this 65 km:<br \/>\n1 and 2 goodie gell\u2019s. I was drinking far too little.<br \/>\nRecovery: yogurt, fruit, whey, dates<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 46<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Nice quiet week yet.<br \/>\nNext week the three bridges ultra, intended pace around 12KM\/h as a training.<br \/>\nNow I will take a little more rest.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 45<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nFurthermore, trained just fine, not bothered by the ultra india summer training, no speed yet.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 44<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nWell, a few days after a 127 km. you can do some easy runs. I actually still can not believe that I won it. Not really excessive burden of it, but have to give time to the body for recover.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 43<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Quiet on the job, now I do not want anyt<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hi<\/span>ng<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> to hurt.<\/span><strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Friday Hans, Misha and I left to Drente on Saturday morning for the Indian Summer Ultra which starts at 6:00 It will be the first Indian summer ultra, a 127 km trail through Drente.<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Beautiful race, feeling just e\\xcellent.<\/p>\n<p>And the first edition i became&#8230;..FIRST.<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nNutrition during 127 km.<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>2 goodie &#8216;s, 3 gells, Snelle Jelle,\u00a0 and more I can&#8217;t remember.<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Drinking camelbag low, 1.5 liter hypotonic sports drink and some of the items, much too little!<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Recovery: yogurt, fruit, whey, dates. Chips and beer, little well deserved party afterwards!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 42<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Last full week before the Indian summer ultra , next week, by\u00a0 Drente. I am very excited.<br \/>\nKilometers are all still not enough, lets hope I retain the shape. All feels well.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 41<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Keep up the good work week, after the last awesome races.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 40<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>After Breda still a bit startled that it can be so hard.<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Now keep quite, sitting on the edge, and Saturday enjoy walking in mountain and valley 60 km<u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>Fun competition, organized together with Misha to it by Willem.<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Intention to make a nice workout, which is also well done.<u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>nutrition; 1 goodie two gelletjes, drink \u00be camelbag hypotonic sports drink and water. Too little!<\/p>\n<p>Recovery: fruit yogurt, whey, dates<\/p>\n<p>Sunday leaked again quietly<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 39<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>After 80 several quiet workouts Brussels.<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Sunday in Breda \u00bd as a team invitation.<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Which half went like a rocket, walked calmly and constructively, third time ever run a half. Is it on the brink now, be very careful.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 38<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Well this week to build the Ecotrail in Brussels wonder.<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Nice &#8220;trail&#8221; more half and half way trail. Pity that route designations are gone, very warm 25 degrees. Devastated gone on too little drinking, nevertheless satisfied to conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Nutrition: camelbag 1.5 ltr. empty! Too drunk at the posts.<br \/>\n2 goodie &#8216;s and 2 gelletjes<br \/>\nRecovery: yoghurt, fruit whey, dates<\/p>\n<p>Day after leaked quiet again.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 37<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Km. be a little less.<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Next week on the ecotrail Brussels 80 km.<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Training all going fine.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 36<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Actually, this dull weeks!<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Just train and nothing else special to report, boring huh.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 35<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Tuesday nice on the track and on the road Thursday, nothing fancy.<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Weekends longer runs, not super long.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 34<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>No special things, just train and a small marathon weekends. Camelbag along with hypotonic sports drink.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 33<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>On weekends the coal mine trail, 44 km. and very challenging altimeters. So dismantling this week.<\/p>\n<p>First be a 6 km. do the polderloop, runners competition.<\/p>\n<p>Altimeters, again better than the previous trail, one small party overall, tasty popped.<\/p>\n<p>Now to restore calm and out.<\/p>\n<p>Nutrition: camelbag hypotonic sports drink 1 liter and 2 gelletjes eaten.<\/p>\n<p>Recovery: Yogurt, fruit whey and dates.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 32<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>This week we have gone somewhat reduce to next week, everything just suppleness.<strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Can not be whole week, last trail badly affected by the altitude in the upper legs.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 31<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preparation for the weekend, trail 57 km, near Charlois.<\/p>\n<p>Beautiful trail, though often walked, sturdy climbs and descents. Beautiful weather, so hot.<\/p>\n<p>Nutrition, camelbag hypotonic sports drink upon 1 liter, 3 goodie, s. Too little consumed under these conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Recovery: Yogurt, fruit, whey and dates.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 30<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nice weather and nice km. do what you want.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 29<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Just do your thing at this time, nothing special on the horizon, the first two weeks then.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 28<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nice temperatures and good walking for this time of year, additional steps to make slow.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 27<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The regular training on the job and off.<\/p>\n<p>Only in the end decided to go walking in Oosterhout<\/p>\n<p>27 km trail, very confusing piece on the trail. I was a little more km. therefore, also quite warm satisfied. Food yes but nothing was 27 km. yet!<\/p>\n<p>Sunday 25 km. anticipated<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Week 26 and week 25<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tasty been on vacation, super beautiful island and enjoyed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 24<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This week, just a standard week.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday went to Rijsbergen, 10 km. walked and my P.R. 10 years ago almost walked 5 seconds! Just because it&#8217;s possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 23<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>standard week<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 21<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Again boring, despite not Steenbergen after rumbles<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 20<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes, on the way to the race 24 hours of Steenbergen, this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, after six hours just feel I have been more than 12 hours had been, suffering from groin, back and God knows what else. Just stopped and stinks.<\/p>\n<p>Misha has done done it 24 hours!<\/p>\n<p>I do not pity for my qualification for the Sparthatlon!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 19<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Phasing, bound for 24 hours. all goes as planned.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 18<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last week many km. Going great mileage digest goes well.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 17<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These are weeks with many km. pity that the weather did not always sit with it, is sometimes quite cold and wet.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 16<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The km. continues to increase and it is good, careful nutrition regarding recovery and that I eat enough.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 15<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Just km. and create a workout, boring huh<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 14<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We slowly km weather. building and hoplelijk is that without problems.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 13<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This week is still a sign of recovery, should just enjoy my flush of victory!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 12<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is the first this year 125 km of the beach, so quiet at the beginning of the week.<\/p>\n<p>Friday night 00:00 start around Jan Knippenberg memorial.<\/p>\n<p>What a game, but read the report!<\/p>\n<p>Peaceful and constructive walked and delicious finish.<\/p>\n<p>Okay it did right and left some very, but I may.<\/p>\n<p>Power supply:<\/p>\n<p>Camelbag \u00be empty, hypotonic sports drink, goodie 3&#8217;s, three gelletjes, gingerbread, sugar and raisin.<\/p>\n<p>Misha also stood with my drink, I just do not know how much I have this on.<\/p>\n<p>Recovery, yogurt, fruit, whey, dates and of course an evening beer! I felt I deserved. Only my eyes were closed at 10 o&#8217;clock ..<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 11<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The last full week before the J.K.M and we will reduce some. Very remain and continue to believe in it.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 10<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Beginning of the week, nice and quiet on the court, sat Nijverdal, Salland Trail 75 km. fantastically beautiful trail, super cozy and nice organization.<\/p>\n<p>I just want to run it as long workout, but two are even more fun!<\/p>\n<p>Nutrition: camelbag 1 liter hypotonic sports drink, too little.<\/p>\n<p>Goodie two and two gelletjes too little.<\/p>\n<p>Recovery: Yogurt, fruit, whey and dates.<\/p>\n<p>leaked Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 9<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No full house week, but a little less, km. go in as cake recovery too.<\/p>\n<p>This is even more important.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 8<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Beginning of the week was fine, but still a bad cold and just a trainingkje less remain intact now!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 7<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tasty many km do this week, only waalt very hard.<\/p>\n<p>Then LSD are walking very difficult.<\/p>\n<p>Camelbag taken, and \u00be liter hypotonic sports drink on<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 6<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Monday we walked into the dark forest to try headlight, fun and good light, together with Hans. This, too, you must try in training. Furthermore, just km. make and let&#8217;s go.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 5<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lamp bought and tried the same, in the dark forest, along with Hans.<\/p>\n<p>Went fine, even with it to get going, now tinkering is better in the game.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 4<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The km. have up to achieve the goals of this year and going slow!<\/p>\n<p>So the good way, thanks to the trainer.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 3<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We go against it again this week, Saturday 21, Sunday 42 km. wham<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 2<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The courses go well hopefully the goals this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>week 1<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year planned:<\/p>\n<p>Jan Knippenberg memorial 125 km,<\/p>\n<p>Salland Trail 75 km<\/p>\n<p>Van Steenbergen 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Then we&#8217;ll see<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A brief summary of my activities in 2016. week 52 A podium place \u00a0at the Christmas Trail in my home village Sprundel.
